Privacy Policy
Why we are keeping essential information
We are required to retain certain records to meet our legal, safeguarding, and insurance obligations. This ensures that there is an accurate record of the support provided, should any questions or issues arise in the future.
What we will keep
We will retain a secure, restricted archive of relevant records. This may include basic personal details, records of involvement with BEfriend, and key information relating to support provided or volunteering activity.
What we will delete
Information that is no longer necessary will be securely deleted. This includes duplicate records, informal notes, and administrative information that is not required for legal or safeguarding purposes.
How long we will keep your information
Records will normally be retained for a period of 6 years following the closure of the service. In limited circumstances, some information may be retained for longer, up to 15 years, where this is necessary due to safeguarding, incident, or legal considerations.
How your information will be stored
All retained data will be stored securely, with access restricted to two authorised individuals, and appropriate safeguards in place.

Under UK data protection law, you have the right to request access to your personal data and to request corrections. These rights continue after the organisation has closed.
